I cook. I like soup. A lot.
And I bake. Bread, with a soft, nutty wheat crumb inside and a crunchy crust outside. My fave.
When I’m not in the kitchen, coated in a sheath of flour, I’m in the garden (usually still coated in flour, only with muddy knees). I grow heirloom tomatoes and herbs. Fruits and vegetables of all kinds, really. Plus the occasional flower.
The things in my garden often find their way into my food, sometimes when you least expect it. Thought I’d mention that upfront.
I love grains. If I had the land, I would grow wheat and spend the Indian days of summer walking through the fields, brushing my hands over the tops of the stalks. And then I’d mill the wheatberries into flour and bake more bread. It’s a dream I have.
